Augusta GreenJackets holding 2013 National Anthem Auditions

March 5, 2013

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Augusta GreenJackets are having auditions to select performers who will sing the national anthem at home games during the 2013 season.

"We are excited to see the singers who come out to audition this year," General Manager Bob Flannery said. "The GreenJackets had so many talented performers last year who did a wonderful job singing the national anthem before the games. We hope to see them return to audition again, and we are looking forward to hearing those who are auditioning for the first time."

Auditions will be held in the Augusta Mall at the JCPenney's court on March 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and are open to all ages. This is the first time that the GreenJackets are having national anthem auditions in the Augusta Mall.

Groups and individuals auditioning will be asked to sing The Star-Spangled Banner acapella in front of a panel of judges. Performers should be prepared to sing the entire song. But depending on the number of auditions, those auditioning might be asked to stop early.

Performers will be required to fill out a form with basic information prior to the audition. They will also be asked which days they would like to perform. However, it's not guaranteed that they will get to perform on the dates they selected.

Auditions will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis. This will be the only audition date to sing the national anthem at Lake Olmstead Stadium for the 2013 season. Those selected by judges to perform will be informed prior to Opening Night.

Season tickets for the 2013 season are currently on sale, while individual tickets will go on sale on March 25. For more information on GreenJackets tickets call (706) 922-WINS.
