Augusta Splits Series with Greenville

GreenJackets Faces Trouble with Runners in Scoring Position

Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (15-16) suffered another painful loss to the Greenville Drive (16-12), Monday night, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The Drive beat the GreenJackets 13-3. 

The GreenJackets scored one run in each the first, third and fifth innings. Three singles scored the first run for the team. Ryder Jones scored on a forced ground out by Geno Escalante in the third. Brandon Bednar scored the final run on a ground out by Christian Arroyo. 

Augusta had no issue making contact with the ball, they just could not score. With 13 hits, the team went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position. The team left nine on base. 

Again Greenville successful hit off of the GreenJackets pitching. The Drive scored six runs off of the GreenJackets starting pitcher, Chase Johnson (1-3) in four and one-thirds inning. The drive continued to score off of Steven Messner and Nick Vander Tuig. In a combined two and one thirds inning, the Drive scored another seven runs. 

Ryan Tuntland had an interesting night for the GreenJackets. Tuntland started at first base for the team and then he pitched the ninth inning for the GreenJackets. In one inning he struck out one and got two ground outs.  

The GreenJackets head on the road for a three game series against Delmarva and then a four game series against Hickory. The team returns home on May 14th for a seven game homestand.
