GreenJackets Announce 3rd Annual "World Series of Chili" Cook-Off

Fun, Food & Festival takes over Lake Olmstead Stadium

AUGUSTA, GA: The Augusta GreenJackets, single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, in conjunction with the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta's Camp Lakeside, are excited to announce the Third Annual "World Series of Chili" Cook-off presented by Southern Siding, SportClips and Sysco to be held at Lake Olmstead Stadium on

AUGUSTA, GA: The Augusta GreenJackets, single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, in conjunction with the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta's Camp Lakeside, are excited to announce the Third Annual "World Series of Chili" Cook-off presented by Southern Siding, SportClips and Sysco to be held at Lake Olmstead Stadium on Saturday, October 21st from 12-5pm.

The following teams have signed up for a chance to take home the championship trophy: Peak-a-Boom!, Mass Meatia Marketing (2016 Overall Chili Winner), Mac and King's Chili Dawgs, Pynecone Chili, Clipper Brigade, Truck's Chili, Sloppy'z, Tbonz Steakhouse, Southern Siding, Savannah Riverkeepers and of course a GreenJackets Special Chili! It is not too late to register a team to be a part of this exciting event.
Event tickets are on sale now at the GreenJackets offices or by calling the GreenJackets Front Office at (706) 922-WINS (9467) or online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com/chili. Advanced adult tickets are $10/ $12 Day of ($12 Day of) (includes six chili sample tickets) and children (4-12) tickets are $5/ $6 Day of (includes three chili samples). Children 3 and under get in for FREE. This is a pet friendly event (dogs only). Special Incentive to buying tickets and coming to the Chili Cook-Off, anyone that buys tickets, will be entered into a raffle in which the GreenJackets will pull at 3PM for one lucky winner to win 2 tickets to the Inaugural Opening Day at SRP Park against the Lexington Legends (Kansas City Royals).
"We are once again excited to partner with Camp Lakeside and raise funds through this event that has continued to grow year after year," stated GreenJackets Vice President Tom Denlinger. "This is quickly becoming one of our most popular festivals and we invite you to come enjoy an afternoon of FUN along with some of the best chili the CSRA has to offer!"
A panel of local judges will be on hand to award prizes in four categories, with trophies provided thanks to Allsports Trophies & Gifts:
- Most Unique Chili
            - People's Choice Chili
            - Most Overall Creative Chili Stand
            - Best Overall Chili (Cash prize of $500 provided by Sysco & $50 Dick's Sporting Good's Gift Card)
In addition to the Chili Cook-Off, the GreenJackets will be a Kicks 99 Guitar Pull stop from 1-3PM in which patrons can come up and enter to win a pair of Guitar Pull Tickets. Winner of the Guitar Pull Tickets will be announced at 3PM and will be pulled by celebrity judge, WB on Kicks. there will also be live music provided by local CSRA band, The Mason Jars, a Cornhole Tournament benefiting Camp Lakeside ($100 for winning team), 50/50 Raffle benefiting Camp Lakeside, college football viewing station, inflatables for the kids (bounce house, obstacle course) and much more. The Ahmen Korner Bar & Grill will be open serving cold beverages (Beer and Soda) and ballpark fare.

About Camp Lakeside
The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta's Camp Lakeside, a 100-acre camp property on Lake Thurmond, has been a historic camp facility for many years in the CSRA and reopened as a day camp in 2016 and will start overnight camp operations in 2017. The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta and the Children's Hospital of Georgia have partnered to create an accessible camp facility for children of all abilities to enjoy camp fun. The Family Y's Prime Time program provides after-school care at 36 Richmond, McDuffie and Aiken County elementary schools and 15 summer camp sites.
