GreenJackets Drop Fifth Straight

GreenJackets Unable to Get Clutch Hit in Loss
August 26, 2017

[Empty Body]

With the GreenJackets trailing the Greenville Drive 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth, they had runners on the corners and two outs and Johneshwy Fargas at the plate. He lined out to short to end the game as the GreenJackets dropped their fifth straight game both overall and at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
Trailing 4-2, Fargas led off the bottom of the eighth with a single. He stole second and then stole third. With two outs, Jose Vizcaino singled him home to trim the deficit in half. After the Drive took a 1-0 lead in the fourth, the GreenJackets responded in the bottom half when Vizcaino and Kelvin Beltre hit back-to-back singles to start the inning. With one out, they completed a double steal. A missed catch error by Drive third baseman Bobby Dalbec on a throw by catcher Roldani Baldwin scored Vizcaino and advanced Beltre to third. Beltre then came in to score on an RBI groundout by Adam Sonabend to give the GreenJackets a 2-1 lead.
The Drive answered back when Granger Studdard drew a leadoff walk in the top of the fifth. He stole second and came in to score on a two out single by Santiago Espinal to tie the game at two. He advanced to second on a throw and scored on a single by Baldwin to give the Drive back the lead. Baldwin advanced to second on a wild pitch and was driven in by Bobby Dalbec who doubled making it 4-2.
