GreenJackets drop third-straight game

June 6, 2013

For the second straight day, Mitch Delfino hit a solo home run. But for the second straight day, it wasn't enough to help Augusta get the win.

The GreenJackets (30-28) lost 2-1 against the Grasshoppers (27-30) in Greensboro Tuesday afternoon.

Starter Kendry Flores was the only pitcher Augusta used on Tuesday. In his eight innings, Flores allowed just three hits, two runs and one walk while striking out seven batters.

However, those two runs proved costly.

Greensboro led off the second inning with a home run from Viosergy Rosa. Then after Matt Juengel singled to center field, Greensboro's Cody Keefer doubled to bring in Rosa.

Unfortunately, the GreenJackets offense couldn't cover those two runs despite having six hits, doubling the Grasshoppers.

The GreenJackets left five runners stranded on base on Tuesday.

The GreenJackets are now in second to last place, sitting 4.5 games out of first. They will finish up their series against the Grasshoppers tonight at 7:05 p.m. and then will return home on Friday for a quick three-game homestand.
