GreenJackets partner with Georgia Regents Medical Center

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Georgia Regents Medical Center has entered a three-year agreement to be the official health care provider for the Augusta GreenJackets, the Single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.

"We first partnered with Georgia Regents Medical Center in 2011 and have been very pleased with the expertise that this nationally recognized academic health center has provided to our franchise. The GreenJackets are just one of many testaments to the support that Georgia Regents provides the community," said Jeff Eiseman President of Agon Sports and Entertainment LLC, the ownership management company of the GreenJackets.

"Baseball is one of America's favorite pastimes, drawing the young and old alike, and Georgia Regents Medical Center is excited to continue supporting the hometown team. In addition, we look forward to working with the GreenJackets on several themed promotions and events to generate awareness about health and wellness needs in our community," said Dave Brond, SVP of Communications and Marketing at Georgia Regents University and Health System.

Some of those promotions will include Pink in the Park, a breast cancer awareness event; Strikeout Childhood Obesity; a wellness initiative for kids; and Ks for Kids, a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital of Georgia, the area's only dedicated children's hospital.

In addition, the Georgia Regents Sports Medicine Center plays an integral role in the health and wellness of the GreenJackets. Center Director Dr. Monte Hunter, along with Primary Care Sports Medicine Specialists Dr. Michelle Cintron and Dr. Chad Asplund, will provide medical care for the team.

"It is a privilege and a pleasure to be asked by the San Francisco Giants to serve as the team physicians for the GreenJackets," said Hunter. "Many players begin their professional careers in Augusta and go on to be world champions. In working with the Giants, it has always been clear that they want the best care for their players and coaches, on and off the field. At Georgia Regents, with our specialists and specialty services, we can provide comprehensive care, for not only these professional athletes, but for athletes of all levels, to keep them at their best. It has been very rewarding to be involved in helping the GreenJackets stay healthy and achieve their personal and professional goals."

Hunter, who also serves as Interim Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at GRU, has more than 25 years of experience in sports medicine, including serving as a team physician for the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons and the UCLA Bruins.

The GreenJackets will open the season at home on Thursday, April 3, against the Charleston RiverDogs, a New York Yankees affiliate. Game time is 7 p.m. For more information, visit GreenJacketsBaseball.com or call 706-736-7889.
