Martin Agosta named SAL Pitcher of the Week

AUGUSTA, GA. - Right-handed pitcher Martin Agosta has been named the South Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Week for June 3-9, 2013. Agosta is the first winner of a weekly SAL award this season for the GreenJackets.

            The award comes after Agosta's best outing of the season against the Lexington's Legends on Friday. Agosta pitch seven scoreless innings, while giving up just two hits and two walks. He also struck out 10 batters, which tied a season high that he set on May 6 against Asheville.

            Friday was Agosta's third scoreless outing this season.

            Agosta ranks seventh in the SAL with a 2.19 ERA. He also is second in the league with 81 strikeouts in 61.2 innings, just 10 behind Charleston's Rafael De Paula. The starter also boasts the fifth lowest batting average with a .188.

            In addition to picking up the weekly award, Agosta was one of the six GreenJackets players named to the Southern Division's All-Star Roster last week.

            Agosta final start of the first half is expected to be on the road Thursday, June 13 against the Charleston RiverDogs.
