After giving up a run off a pair of hits in the first inning, GreenJackets starter Yordy Cabrera settled in and held the RiverDogs to only one additional hit through seven innings of work. He struck out a total of seven on the night. Jose Morel and Patrick Ruotolo each contributed a shutout inning in relief with Ruotolo striking out the side in the ninth to seal the victory.

Trailing 1-0, Jose Vizcaino led off the bottom of the second with a single. With one out, Michael Bernal singled to advance him to third. Adam Sonabend followed with a single to score him and tie the game at one.

The GreenJackets took the lead for good when Shawon Dunston hit a solo home run to lead off the fifth. The offense continued to pour it on when Jean Angomas followed with a double. Vizcaino then singled him home making it 3-1 GreenJackets. Angomas added another base hit when he singled to lead off the seventh and advanced to second on a fielding error by RiverDog's right fielder Pablo Olivares.
