Vizcaino's Performance vs. Greenville Earns Him SAL Pitcher of the Week Honors

Augusta, GA-The South Atlantic League has chosen its weekly awards for the week of June 5-11, 2017 and has selected GreenJackets right hander Raffi Vizcaino for Pitcher of the Week. Vizcaino is the second member of the GreenJackets to win the award this season. Domenic Mazza won the award for the week of April 24-30 after pitching a perfect game on April 25.

On Saturday June 9 against the Greenville Drive, Vizcaino threw six innings of no hit ball in his first start of the season. He struck out nine and was perfect through the first five innings. The team's bid for a combined no hitter ended with a single with nobody out in the top of the ninth. The game ended with a combined one hitter and a 7-1 victory for the GreenJackets.

Vizcaino originally signed with the Giants in 2013 and spent the first three seasons with the Giants Rookie League team in the Dominican Summer League. He spent the majority of the 2016 season with the Short Season Salem-Keizer Volcanoes before being called up to the GreenJackets on August 24. He made two starts for the GreenJackets last season. He began this season in Extended Spring Training and was reassigned to Augusta on May 18.
