Allen, Santos homer in loss to Drive

GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 15, 2018) -- Will Allen and Jhonny Santos each homered, but Greensboro dropped its series opener at Greenville, 9-6, on Wednesday night at Fluor Field. With the loss, the Grasshoppers dropped their seventh straight game, the team's longest losing streak since the end of the 2016 season.
Angel Padron (5-5) earned the win for the Drive, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings while limiting the Grasshoppers to one hit and two walks with five strikeouts. Sean Guenther took the loss for Greensboro, giving up six runs (one earned) on seven hits in 2.0 innings as the defense committed four errors on the night.
Greensboro (21-27 Second Half, 55-62 Overall) committed three errors -- all by shortstop Osiris Johnson -- during Greenville's 6-run second inning. The Hoppers committed four miscues in the field on the night.  
Allen smashed a 3-run home run (9) in the seventh inning while Santos belted a 2-run blast in the ninth.  
This is the longest losing streak for Greensboro this season and the team's longest since dropping 14 straight to end the 2016 season. 
The Grasshoppers and Drive continue this 3-game series on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Fluor Field.
