Greenville’s new addition Niko Kavadas hit a home run for the second night in a row, but the Drive suffered a 7-4 loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

A pitching duel between Greenville’s Wyatt Olds and Bowling Green’s Ben Brecht went on for the first three innings before the Drive took the lead.

After Nicholas Northcut walked to first and Joe Davis hit a single, the Drive was able to score three runs at the bottom of the fourth. A home run from the new kid on the block Kavadas did the trick making it his second home run since arriving in Greenville the night before.

The Hot Rods had some making up to do and got even with the Drive in the fifth. An RBI single from Beau Brundage got them going before they scored two more runs after a throwing error from Northcut, then there was a tie score of 3-3.

Bowling Green extended their lead further at the top of the sixth thanks to an RBI single by Luis Leon.

Brendan Cellucci came in to pitch for the Drive at the top of the seventh where he allowed two walks resulting in one run for the Hot Rods.

Ronny Simon from Bowling Green furthered their lead with a homer over the Green Monster seats. The opposing team led 7-3 after the top of the eighth.

Northcut made a huge effort to catch up to the Hot Rods as he hit a 415 foot bomb over the Drive Rooftop making it his 22nd home run of the season. However, Bowling Green still walked away on top with a final score of 7-4.

The Drive wraps up the series with the Hot Rods tomorrow at 3:05.
