Charleston, SC - Needing a win on Sunday to clinch a victory of the weekend's four-game series, the Greenville Drive delivered in dominant fashion, as Angel Padron threw seven scoreless innings in a 5-0 shutout of the Charleston RiverDogs.
Padron's (6-6) seven innings set a new career-high on Sunday, and he held the RiverDogs (26-34, 59-69) to just two hits while walking one and striking out five. He has thrown at least six scoreless innings in two of his last three starts.
Lukas Young followed with three strikeouts over two perfect innings to preserve the shutout.
A four-run third inning provided the Drive (35-27, 60-71) with the early lead. The inning began with a two-out single by Isaias Lucena off Nolan Martinez (0-3), and two batters later, Jarren Duran lined an RBI double to left field. Ryan Fitzgerald followed with a double of his own to score a pair of runs, and an RBI single by Garrett Benge capped the big inning.
The lead was stretched to 5-0 in the eighth as Benge drew a one-out walk and came in to score on a Charleston error.
Duran went 2-3 to lead the offense.

The Drive will conclude their final road trip of the season with a four-game series against the Rome Braves, an Atlanta Braves affiliate. The series opener begins at 7:05 on Monday and features Drive left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus (7-5, 3.78) squaring off against Braves right-hander Keith Weisenberg (2-3, 3.46).
