GCF announces formation of Farm Grown Council
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund is proud to announce the formation of the Farm Grown Council. The Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund is currently seeking mission-oriented agriculture, business, and community leaders to volunteer and serve on the Farm Grown Council (FGC). The primary responsibility of the FGC is to support the mission of Farm Grown, which seeks to promote the agricultural heritage and philanthropic vitality of the Central San Joaquin Valley through the building of partnerships in support of education and healthy living.
"The Farm Grown Council is a vital step in allowing us to hear from the agricultural community on a consistent basis," said Grizzlies Managing General Partner and Team President Chris Cummings. "We look forward to engaging with business and community agricultural leaders through the Farm Grown Council, ensuring the Farm Grown program is serving the very constituents for which it was created and promoting agricultural education and healthy living."
The ideal candidate for the Farm Grown Council will be a leader who is committed to the promotion of literacy, healthy living, and agricultural education in the Central San Joaquin Valley. Council members will sit on committees focused on furthering the Farm Grown program.
Committees will focus on the development of educational agricultural exhibits, displays, and signage at Chukchansi Park; development and continued maintenance of the emerging community garden at Chukchansi Park; building the Farm Forum speakers bureau; partnering with area community benefit organizations; distribution of student scholarships; and growing Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund programming.
Breakfast meetings for the Farm Grown Council will be scheduled at 7:15 am on the second Tuesday of each month in the Owner's Suite at Chukchansi Park, with the exception of November and December (no meetings). Meetings start with the second Tuesday in July.
