Grizzlies kick off 2013 season with 8-game homestand

Back-to-back firework shows, scarf giveaway opening homestand

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the 2010 and 2012 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, will begin their 2013 season with an eight-game homestand, starting with Opening Day, presented by Coca-Cola and The Fresno Bee, on Thursday, April 4th. The Grizzlies will play the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, from April 4-7 and the Las Vegas 51s, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, from April 8-11.

The 2013 campaign starts with Opening Day on April 4th. The return of Grizzlies baseball will also feature a performance by the Drag Kings, presented by Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, and a post-game fireworks show, presented by Coca-Cola. Chukchansi Park will also be filled with live music at each gate, which open at a special time of 5:35 for all fans.

Friday, April 5th is the first Farm Grown Friday. As with all Farm Grown Fridays, a farmer's market will take place along the concourse, with items such as cheese, eggs, stone fruits, broccoli, honey, and juices available for purchase. Another great fireworks show, presented by PG&E, will also light up the Downtown Fresno skyline.

On Saturday, April 6th, the Grizzlies will have their first giveaway of the season. The first 2,000 fans to the 7:05 pm game will receive a "17 out of 25" scarf, presented by Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino. The scarf features the 17 players on the Giants' 25-man 2012 World Series roster who have played for the Grizzlies in their careers. Gates open at 5:35 pm for season ticket holders and 6:05 for general admission.

The Tacoma series wraps up on Sunday, April 7th with Social Sunday. As part of a new promotion this season, the Grizzlies will send out a tweet or Facebook post on the team's official social media profiles announcing an exclusive deal to be used only on the Sunday game day. The deal will be sent out on the morning of the Friday before each Sunday home game.

The Sunday does not stop with just the social media deal of the week either. Fans will receive a 2013 Magnet Schedule, presented by PG&E. Also, the April 7th game includes a pre-game Future Giants and Parker Autograph Session, pre-game Kids Parade presented by Stauffer's Animal Crackers and Cookies, and post-game Kids Run The Bases, presented by popchips. First pitch for April 7th is set for 2:05 pm.

Monday, April 8th is the return of Monday Madness, presented by ABC 30 and Wild Water Adventure Park. The value-packed Monday Madness ticket package includes 2 Field Level Reserve tickets, 2 hot dogs, 2 sodas, 2 Wild Water Adventure Park passes, and 2 Blackbeard's Mini Golf passes for just $32.

Tuesday, April 9th is 2 For Tuesday. Fans can get close to the action with 2 Field Box tickets for the price of one. Also, all fans can purchase $2 hot dogs, $2 sodas, and $2 bags of popchips through the fourth inning. PBS character Curious George will make a special appearance, presented by Wawona Frozen Foods. Fans will be able to take photos with Curious George on the concourse throughout the game.

Wednesday, April 10th is Everybody Wins-Days, presented by The Fresno Bee. This all-new ticket package is loaded with value and entertainment options at an affordable price. The Everybody Wins-Days ticket pack includes 2 Super View tickets, 2 Fresno Chaffee Zoo vouchers, 2 Jamba Juice vouchers, 2 RaceRoom @ River Park vouchers, and 2 John's Incredible Pizza Company vouchers for only $26. Also, if the Grizzlies batters hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning, one lucky fan will win a new car, courtesy of Clawson Honda. Fans must fill out an entry form available at the Courtesy Booth and will be entered into a drawing, with one fan chosen as the potential winner of the new car if the Grizzlies achieve the feat. If the fan chosen in the drawing does not win the car, he or she will still walk away a winner, as he or she will receive a free pair of tickets to a future 2013 Grizzlies game.

The season-opening homestand concludes on Thursday, April 11th with the first Tecate Thursday of the season. Through the fifth inning, 12 oz. and 24 oz. Tecate and Tecate Lights are $1 and $2, respectively; while sodas are $1 all game long. As a new addition to Tecate Thursdays this season, New Rock 104.1 FM will present live music in the Tecate Cantina before the game. Kicking off the Tecate Thursday concert series is Fresno-based band, Session.
