Grizzlies plan "Pop-up Shop" at River Park for holiday season

Hottest 2016 Fresno Grizzlies, Fresno Tacos and new apparel/holiday items will be available; Grizzlies 20th anniversary season logo also unveiled
November 8, 2016

FRESNO, Calif. - A first for the Fresno Grizzlies, a "Pop-up Shop" at River Park shopping center will open on Friday at 9 a.m. for all the seasonal shopping and gift needs of Valley baseball and taco fans. The location is 192 East Via Parque in Fresno (adjacent to the parking structure and across from Me-n-Ed's Coney Island Grill).

Coming off a season where merchandise sales set a franchise record and totaled over $700,000 in revenue, the Fresno Grizzlies Team Store satellite location during the holiday shopping season was a natural next step for those closer to River Park than downtown, while the Team Store at Chukchansi Park will continue to be open during it's usual hours of Noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with expanded Black Friday and weekend hours between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

A grand-opening party is being planned at the River Park location for Friday, November 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. More details on the gathering will be released tomorrow (November 8). It will be an open invitation for folks to shop, enjoy some complimentary refreshments, and meet Fresno Grizzlies/Fresno Tacos mascots Parker T. Bear and Cilantro Gomez.

"We're always striving to keep the coolest brand in Fresno as Triple-A baseball team. Our merchandise is renowned and sold nationally, and is a symbol of regional pride," said Grizzlies marketing director Sam Hansen. "This limited time River Park pop-up shop will give North Fresno shoppers a chance to take advantage of having this product readily available for easy purchase. We will also offer limited quantity exclusive items that will only be available at the pop-up shop."

Fans should also keep an eye out for special holiday apparel - such as a Fresno Tacos ugly Christmas sweater - which will be available in December at either store and online. Previously unreleased Fresno Grizzlies fashion fitted caps will also be available at both store locations, as well as 2017 schedules and information on special 2017 ticket plans.

As the 20th anniversary of Fresno Grizzlies baseball approaches this April, the organization has also unveiled a commemorative logo to mark the occasion. Combining the color schemes of three Grizzly looks dating back to the inaugural 1998 season, the logo is a condensed story of the team's history. Fans with a keen eye will notice not only an outline of Chukchansi Park in the logo, but also Pete Beiden Field, where the Grizzlies played their first four seasons on the campus of Fresno State before moving downtown in 2002.

The 20th anniversary logo will also appear on merchandise and team uniforms throughout 2017, in addition to giveaway items at the ballpark designed to honor some of the greatest players to hone their skills in Fresno the last 20 years before graduating to Major League stardom.
