Ball is Triple-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year

Gwinnett groundskeeper tabbed Triple-A's best by Minor League Baseball, STMA

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - Gwinnett Braves Sports Turf Manager Chris Ball has been selected as the Triple-A classification's winner in the 13th Annual Sports Turf Manager of the Year Awards, announced today by Minor League Baseball and the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA). Ball will receive his award at the Baseball Winter Meetings™ Awards Luncheon at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, FL on Monday, December 9.

Ball, named the International League Sports Turf Manager of the Year on September 13, wins the Triple-A classification award for the first time in his career. He is the first sports turf manager to be selected as a winner in multiple classifications, having also earned the Class-A honors in 2007 and 2010 while with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

With the assistance of Sports Turf Trainee McClain Murphy and the rest of the Coolray Field Grounds Crew, Ball has served as Gwinnett's Sports Turf Manager since the fall of 2011. Prior to joining the G-Braves, he boasted a decorated career in Class-A, winning a record five consecutive Carolina League Field of the Year Awards from 2006 to 2010 while with Myrtle Beach. He is the first Gwinnett Sports Turf Manager to win both the International League and Triple-A classification awards.
