Braves Spring Training Notebook: March 12

Outfielders Dustin Peterson and Ronald Acuña Jr. stole the show at Atlanta Braves Spring Training this weekend with their performances at the plate, on the base paths and in the field.

At the plate

Peterson was the star of the weekend as the 2017 Gwinnett player vies for a spot on Atlanta's roster. He went 2-for-4 Saturday, launching his first homer of the spring off Pittsburgh's Trevor Williams, and drove in four runs on the day. He also had an assist from right field, doubling up Josh Harrison at first base on a fly ball. He followed that performance with his second homer in as many days on Sunday, a two-run shot off Detroit's Victor Alcántara (Weekend totals: 2 games, 3-for-6, 2 HR, 4 R, 6 RBI, 2 SO).

Acuna impressed on Saturday, reaching base in all four plate appearances and stealing two bases (Weekend totals: 2 games, 2-for-3, BB, HBP, 2 SB).

On the opposite spectrum, newly-acquired infielder Ryan Schimpf went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts and a walk over two games. He's now struck out in all seven of his Braves at-bats this spring, and is 0-for-21 overall.

On the mound

Reliever Josh Graham worked a scoreless ninth inning Friday, picking up the save. He's thrown 5.1 scoreless innings this spring (Weekend totals: 1.0 IP, 2 SO).
Luke Jackson went 1.0 inning with two strikeouts on Saturday (Totals: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 SO).
