Evan Gattis Recalled by Atlanta

Gattis hit .461 with a home run and one RBI in last three games with Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The Atlanta Braves announced the recall of catcher/outfielder Evan Gattis from the Gwinnett roster on Tuesday, September 3. Gattis had played in the G-Braves' final three-game series at Charlotte from August 31 to September 2.

Gattis, 27, hit .461 (6-for-13) with three doubles, a home run, a run scored and an RBI in his brief stint with Gwinnett. Including a two-game rehab stint from July 12-13 while recovering from a strained right oblique, he hit .333 (7-for-21) with four doubles, a home run and one RBI in five Triple-A games this season.

He returns to Atlanta, where he is batting .238 (61-for-256) with 14 doubles, 15 home runs and 47 RBIs in 80 games this season. Gattis won the National League Rookie of the Month award in both April and May.

Gattis joins outfielder Jose Constanza (recalled on August 31), right-hander Freddy Garcia (purchased on September 1) and right-hander Kameron Loe (purchased on September 2) as late-season call-ups by Atlanta from Gwinnett.

The Gwinnett Braves will begin the 2014 season on Thursday, April 3 at Durham. The next G-Braves' home game at Coolray Field will take place on Friday, April 11, 2014 against the Durham Bulls.
