G-Braves Clipped By RailRiders in Finale, 2-1

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - For the third straight game, the Gwinnett Braves (55-60) couldn't string together hits at the right time as they fell to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (75-41) 2-1 in the finale of the three-game series on Wednesday night at Coolray Field.
The G-Braves left 10 men on base as the RailRiders completed a three-game sweep to earn their 10^th straight victory over Gwinnett at Coolray Field, including two games during last season's Governor's Cup Championship Series.
Making his Coolray Field debut, Manny Barreda was strong in a no-decision. Over 6.0 scoreless innings, he gave up five hits while walking two and striking out two in a quality start.
Luis Cessa got the start for the RailRiders and tossed 2.1 scoreless innings before the visitors turned to Nestor Cortes Jr. out of the bullpen.
In the bottom of the fifth, the G-Braves got their first hit of the night on a single from David Freitas . Ronald Acuña Jr. followed with a single of his own to extend his hitting streak to nine games, but Gwinnett couldn't score as Xavier Avery lined out to second baseman Donovan Solano to end the inning with the game still scoreless.
In the seventh, the RailRiders tried a hit-and-run against rehabbing Atlanta Braves' reliever Dan Winkler , but it backfired. With Cito Culver running, shortstop Sean Kazmar Jr. Jr. caught Wilkin Castillo's line drive. He then threw to first to double off Culver as Winkler got through the inning unscathed. 
Gwinnett took the lead in the bottom of the seventh on Acuna's RBI single off RailRiders' reliever Giovanny Gallegos to right that plated Kyle Kubitza , who began the inning with a single off Cortes.   
The lead wouldn't last long as Solano tied the game with an RBI single to center off Gwinnett reliever Jason Hursh (L, 2-4) in the eighth. Then with two outs, Culver's ground ball was misplayed by Kazmar for an error, allowing Tyler Austin to score the winning run. 
A.J. Minter kept the deficit at one for Gwinnett with a clean top of the ninth. Ben Heller (S, 5) also pitched a scoreless frame for the RailRiders in the bottom half to finish the win. 
For the RailRiders, Gallegos (W, 4-1) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the win. At the plate, Culver, Mason Williams, and Jake Cave each recorded two hits. 
Acuna led the way by going 2-for-5 with an RBI for Gwinnett to post his 12^th multi-hit game in 27 Triple-A games. Freitas went 2-for-4 while Avery and Micah Johnson each stole a base in the loss.
The homestand continues for Gwinnett with game one of a four-game series against the Louisville Bats on Thursday night. The G-Braves are scheduled to start Andrew Albers (11-3, 2.72 ERA) against the Bats' Cody Reed (4-7, 3.59).
