Guilbeau squashes the Grasshoppers bats in game two

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (78-54) took on the Greensboro Grasshoppers (65-66) in game two of the three game series on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium.

 

Starting pitcher for the Suns, Taylor Guilbeau (4-2) had one of his best outings of the year, fanning nine in route to his fourth win of the season.

 

The Suns got the scoring started in the bottom of the fourth innings when Jake Noll knocked his first hit of the game with one out. Jakson Reetz then brought him all the way in from first with a RBI double.

 

Suns starter Taylor Guilbeau threw six complete innings, giving up only four hits and three walks. He was relieved by Mick VanVossen in the seventh inning, who struck out two in his two innings pitched.

 

GuilbeauVanVissen and closer Jake Johansen combined to give up only six hits, five walks and struck out 12.

 

The Starter for the Greensboro Grasshoppers was Justin Jacomb (1-4).

 

After going thee scoreless innings, where he struck out one, Jacomb gave up the RBI double to Reetz. He then gave up another run in the fifth inning when Ian Sagdal tallied his 53rd RBI of the year scoring Narciso Mesawho lead the inning off with a double.

 

Former Hagerstown Sun Trey Lambert relieved Jacomb in the sixth inning.

 

Lambert gave up one run on three hits in his 1.1 innings pitched back at Municipal Stadium. He was relieved by Parker Bugg who threw 1.2 innings striking out one.

 

Taylor Guilbeau earned the win, moving his record to 4-2 and Justin Jacomb received the loss, pushing his record to 1-4. Jake Johansen received the save for the Suns.

 

The Hagerstown Suns send out Tyler Watson (0-0, 3.60) to face Greensboro's LJ Brewster (4-6, 4.81) in the final regular season home game for the Suns.

 

First pitch is scheduled for 2:50pm.
