Noll's late heroics lifts Suns over Shorebirds

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns (76-53) defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds (63-64) 3-2 on Wednesday at Municipal Stadium for their third win a row.

The Shorebirds tied the game at two runs in the seventh, but Jake Noll hit a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to put Hagerstown back on top to win.

Hagerstown opened up the scoring in the fourth inning. Rhett Wiseman walked, stole second base and scored on a single by Matt Reistetter.

Hagerstown scored again in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Rhett Wiseman. Ian Sagdal led off the inning with an extra-base hit, advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Kelvin Gutierrez and scored on Wiseman's RBI.

After trailing through six innings, the Shorebirds tied it up with a two-run home run to center field by Cedric Mullins.

The Shorebirds came out of the seventh inning behind, though, after a solo home run to right-center field by Noll, his first of the season.

Delmarva got two runners into scoring position in the ninth inning, but could not bring in a run.

Starting pitcher, Joan Baez, held Delmarva to six shutout innings.

Winning pitcher, Mariano Rivera lll (5-1), allowed three hits and two earned runs through two innings.

Philip Walby pitched the ninth inning and earned his seventh save.

Delmarva's Brian Gonzalez will face Hagerstown's Luis Reyes in the final game of the series on Thursday at Municipal Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET
