The Washington Nationals and Hagerstown Suns Extend Player Development Contract

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Washington Nationals and Hagerstown Suns are proud to announce a two year extension to their Player Development Contract through 2018.

 

Over the last 10 years, Hagerstown has been home to a number of current major league players. Some notable names are: Bryce Harper, Lucas Giolito, Raynaldo Lopez, Steven Souza Jr., Billy Burns, Michael A. Taylor and Wilmer Difo.

 

"We are pleased to extend our Player Development Contract with the Hagerstown Suns, a relationship we have had now for nine-plus years," Mike Rizzo, President of Baseball Operations & GM, said. "The Suns play an integral role in developing the next wave of talent to advance through our system. Some of our best players have spent time learning how to play the game the 'Nationals Way' while in Hagerstown. We're glad to continue our working relationship with them."
