Fourth Corredor Walkoff Lifts Suns Over Legends

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Aldrem Corredor delivered his team-leading fourth walkoff base knock of the season with an RBI single to center that scored Blake Perkins from second base in the bottom of the ninth to give the Hagerstown Suns (33-32, 71-63) a 5-4 triumph over the Lexington Legends (28-38, 62-73) on Friday night at Municipal Stadium.
With one out in the decisive inning, Perkins dropped a bloop double down the left field line where three Lexington fielders couldn't track down the pop fly. Garrett Davila (Loss, 8-8) intentionally walked Carter Kieboom to face Corredor, who looked at one strike before lifting a liner to center and Perkins came home without a throw as center fielder Michael Giggliotti bobbled the ball.
The Suns earned their first walkoff win since July 30 and Corredor played hero for the first time since his two-out RBI single to beat Tim Tebow and the Columbia Fireflies on June 3. Hagerstown now has eight walkoff wins in 2017.
Despite the thrilling win, the Suns were officially eliminated from playoff contention in the South Atlantic League Northern Division earlier in the evening when the West Virginia Power picked up a 4-3 road victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds. The Suns will miss the postseason for the second time in the last six seasons. 
Sam Held (Win, 2-4) pitched one inning and allowed a leadoff single to Angelo Castellano in the ninth. The Lexington shortstop moved to second on a sac bunt and reached third on a groundout, but Held stranded him there by inducing a groundout from Vance Vizcaino to keep the game tied at 4-4.
Hagerstown opened the scoring with a three-run homer by Nick Banks in the top of the first. Meibrys Viloria tied up the game with his own three-run homer against Suns starter Yonathan Ramirez in the top of the fourth. Oliver Ortiz put the Suns back in front, 4-3, with a solo homer in the fourth.
Lexington loaded the bases against Ramirez in the fifth. The 20-year-old lefty exited in favor of fellow southpaw Hayden Howard out of the pen. Michael Gigliotti scored from third on a passed ball charged to Adderling Ruiz , but following a walk, Howard drew a flyout to center and Perkins threw out Khalil Lee at the plate to keep the game knotted up, 4-4.
Howard carried the tie through 3 2/3 innings with one hit, one walk, and three strikeouts. Ramirez took the no-decision after 4 1/3 innings, three earned runs, four walks, and five strikeouts.
Banks led the Suns with three RBI and Kieboom tallied the only multi-hit game as Hagerstown picked up its first back-to-back victories since a five-game win streak ended on August 11.
Just three Suns games remain in 2017. On Saturday, Hagerstown starter Matt DeRosier (2-4, 3.67) goes to the mound against fellow righty Nolan Watson (6-9, 5.79) for Lexington at 6:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the Municipal Stadium gates receive a Nick Adenhart bobblehead to honor the late Williamsport, Maryland native and former Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher.
