Hammerheads Come Up Empty Against the Mets

Jupiter, FL (July 7, 2017)- The Jupiter Hammerheads (40-43, 7-8) went 1-9 with runners in scoring position, falling to the St. Lucie Mets (37-46, 4-11) 3-1 Friday night at Roger Dean Stadium. 

The Hammerheads would load the bases with nobody out in the fifth, and also put runners on second and third with no outs in the eighth, but came away empty both times.

John Silviano tripled twice for Jupiter, and scored the lone run in the sixth on Dustin Geiger's ground out.

James Needy made his fourth start with the Hammerheads, pitching 6.2 innings, surrendering two runs on eight hits while striking out six batters.

Peter Alonso and Jhoan Urena were the main offense for St. Lucie, going a combined 5-8 with 2 RBI.

Game two of this four game series is tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 PM. The Hammerheads will send LHP James Buckelew (0-1, 0.95 ERA) to the mound. He'll be opposed by RHP Merandy Gonzalez (1-1, 1.50 ERA)
