Jupiter, FL (July 8, 2017)- New game, same story. After going 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position last night, the Hammerheads (40-44, 7-9) went 2 for 8 Saturday night in a 3-2 loss against the Mets (38-46, 5-11).

LHP James Buckelew (0-2, 1.80 ERA) made his fourth start, pitching six innings, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out four.

The Hammerheads got on the board first, picking up a run in the third on Miguel Rojas' RBI single to right that scored Chris Hoo, giving the Hammerheads a 1-0 lead.

Rojas, who started at shortstop and hit second in the lineup, is on an injury rehab assignment from the Miami Marlins.

St. Lucie responded, and did all their scoring in the top of the fourth, putting up three runs to take a 3-1 lead.

There would be no more scoring until the bottom of the ninth, when Boo Vazquez singled home Angel Reyes to cut the Mets lead to 3-2. With that single, Vazquez extended his hitting streak to 11 games since joining the Hammerheads.

Brian Schales came up as the winning run following Vazquez's single, but struck out to end the game.

Game three of this four game series is tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 1 PM. RHP Ben Meyer (1-1, 1.73 ERA) will get the start for the Hammerheads. He'll be opposed by Mets righty Nabil Crismatt (4-6, 3.03 ERA).
