Jupiter, FL (June 30, 2017)- The Hammerheads (36-4, 3-5) had the winning run at third base with no outs in the 11th inning, but couldn't capitalize in a 3-2 loss in 13 innings to Lakeland (36-38, 5-2) Friday night.

With the game tied at 2, John Silviano lead off the 13th by reaching second base on a Lakeland error and advanced to third on a wild pitch.

With Stone Garrett at the plate, Flying Tigers' Pitcher Paul Voelker threw another wild pitch, as Silviano broke from third trying to score.

Catcher Arvicent Perez ran to the backstop, and tossed the ball perfectly to Voekler who tagged out Silviano ending the threat. Garrett would eventually line out and Zach Sullivan struck out to end the inning.

Lakeland third basemen Josh Lester would break the tie in the 13th off Hammerhead reliever Eric Alonzo, who was in his third inning of work.

With a runner on first, Lester doubled to left-center field, scoring Blaise Salter, the eventual winning run.

Starter Jeff Brigham (2-1, 2.38 ERA) was sharp in just in second home start of the season. The righty tossed five innings, giving up one earned run on six hits, while striking out nine.

The Hammerheads and Flying Tigers return to action tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 PM.
