Stanton, Solano & Mahoney To Begin Rehab with Hammerheads

JUPITER, Fla. - Miami Marlins' outfielder Giancarlo Stanton will join the Hammerheads tonight to begin his Major League rehab assignment. Stanton has been on the disabled list since April 30 with a strained right hamstring. He is expected to DH tonight and bat third in game one of the Hammerheads' double-header with the Clearwater Threshers.

In 50 games with the Hammerheads in 2009, Stanton hit .294/.390/.578 with 24 extra-base hits and 39 RBI. Stanton hit a career-high 37 home runs in 123 games with the Marlins last season, while posting a Major League-best .608 slugging percentage and earning his first All-Star Game appearance. 

Marlins' first baseman Joe Mahoney and second baseman Donovan Solano will also join the Hammerheads tonight on Major League rehab assignment. 

Mahoney was placed on the disabled list April 28 with a strained hamstring. He is expected to play first base and bat cleanup in game one tonight. In five games (19 at-bats) on assignment with Jupiter this season, Mahoney is batting .368 with one home run and one double.

Solano has been out since May 6 with a strained left intercostal muscle. He is expected to bat second and play second base for the Hammerheads in game one tonight. In 30 games with the Marlins this season, the 25-year-old Solano is batting .278 with one home run in 108 at-bats.
