Williams recieves 12 run gift from teammates

Barnes is HR shy of cycle as Jupiter routs Charlotte

For his 22nd birthday Trevor Williams' teammates delivered him a gift: 12 runs. Williams cruised to his second win of the season as the Hammerheads routed the Charlotte Stone Crabs 12-1 on Friday night.

The Jupiter bats were in full force from the first at bat of the game when Austin Barnes led off the bottom of the first with a triple. Barnes would leadoff the second with a double before singling to leadoff the third.

He finished the night just a home run shy of the cycle although he later added an infield single in the sixth to finish the night 4-for-5.

Barnes' teammates also provided plenty of offense. After Barnes tripled to start the game Ed Lucas slapped the next pitch to right for a RBI single.

Lucas, who is on a rehab assignment in Jupiter, finished the night 1-for-3 with a RBI, three runs scored and two walks.

Lucas would score his first run of the game in the first when Cameron Flynn hit a sac fly to left with the bases loaded. Ross Wilson and Noah Perio would follow with RBI singles and Jupiter led 4-0 after one inning of play.

The Hammerheads would double up the lead in the second. They loaded the bases thanks to Barnes' double, a walk by Lucas and a single by Colin Moran. Matt Juengel would clear the bases when he pulled a double to deep left.

Juengel would later score the 8th run on an error by the shortstop.

In the third Viosergy Rosa would make it an 11-1 game when he smashed a three-run homer to right, his third long ball of the season.

Williams would last till the sixth when he was pulled from the game with one out. His scattered five hits and allowed just a run which came in the third inning. He struck out four and walked two on the evening.

Chipper Smith, Brian Ellington and Joseph O'Gara would combine to allow just two hits the rest of the way to finish out the game.

Leonel Santiago was charged with the loss for the Stone Crabs. He allowed eight runs on seven hits in two innings. It was his third defeat of the season.

The Hammerheads and Stone Crabs will continue their three game series on Saturday night. It will be a fun night at the Dean as it is Golf Night. The first 200 fans will receive free rounds of golf from local golf courses. There will also be a worst dressed golfer competition along with golf themed promotions throughout the evening. It will also be the first of five Dog Days of Summer meaning fans are invited to bring their dogs to the park.
