Simmons and Bullpen Not Enough for Senators

Bullpen concludes scoreless weekend after solid Simmons
August 10, 2014

The Harrisburg Senators struggled again versus Binghamton pitching in a 3-0 loss on Sunday afternoon in front of 3,957 fans at Metro Bank Park.

Despite the lackluster hitting, the Senators received another quality start on Sunday. James Simmons allowed three runs while striking out a season-high eight batters in six innings. The bullpen also provided solid relief once again. Neil Holland pitched two scoreless innings and Brian Dupra recorded a scoreless ninth inning. The Senators' bullpen did not allow a run in the entire series against the top scoring team in the Eastern League.

The leadoff man reached for the Senators in innings two through five, including two innings in which Harrisburg had runners on first and second with nobody out. Unfortunately, the Senators were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position on the afternoon. Kevin Keyes reached base twice with a double and a walk. Quincy Latimore, Oscar Tejeda and Ricky Hague each singled.

The Senators will be off tomorrow before welcoming the Reading Fightin' Phils to Metro Bank Park for a three-game series. The probable starters on Tuesday are Zach Kroenke for Harrisburg against Reading's Aaron Nola.
The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 5:45 p.m. on 1460 AM or via, or the iHeart Radio app.

The Senators box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours. Tickets are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, online at
