Senators Drop Second Straight One-Run Game

The Hartford Yard Goats snuck past the Harrisburg Senators 3-2 Sunday afternoon at FNB Field. The two teams split their four-game series with all four games decided by one run.

After the Yard Goats took an early 1-0 lead in the third, Austin Davidson tied the game in the fourth with a deep home run over the right field fence, his eighth with the Senators and ninth overall this season which matches a career high. 
The Senators took their only lead in the fifth. Hunter Jones singled with one out and took stole second. After Jones took third on a ground out, Jake Noll reached on an infield single to short which drove home Jones to put the Senators ahead by a run. 
Dom Nuñez tied the game in the top of the sixth with a solo home run to right. 
Senators starter Sterling Sharp did not take a decision as he allowed two runs on seven hits across his six innings. 
Hartford took the lead in the eighth against Senators reliever Jordan Mills. With Omar Carrizales at second on a leadoff double, Nunez lined a single to center to drive in the go-ahead run. 
The Senators put the tying run on base in the ninth when Dan Gamache singled with two outs, but Hartford reliever Scott Griggs struck out Raudy Read to end the ballgame and capture the 3-2 Yard Goat win. 
Hartford starter Rico Garcia (2-0) picked up the win after hurling seven innings of two run ball. Mills (0-1) took the loss after surrendering the go-ahead run in two innings of relief. Griggs notched his third save with a scoreless ninth.
Jones led the Senators with three hits while Noll extended his hitting streak to 10 games with his fifth inning RBI single.
The Senators welcome the Akron RubberDucks to FNB Field for a three-game series beginning Monday night. Kyle McGowin starts for the Senators opposite 'Duck starter Jake Paulson.
