Senators GM is running more than a team

HARRISBURG, PA - December 6, 2018 - Senators General Manager Randy Whitaker likes to run. A lot. Now, Whitaker wants to take his passion for running and use it for good. The Senators are thrilled to announce the #SensGMRuns campaign for 2019. By the end of 2018 Whitaker will have run in 20 races for approximately 80 total race miles. His goal for 2019 is to double that; 40+ races for approximately 150 race miles. Races will include many area 5Ks, as well as a few 10Ks and maybe a couple of half-marathons. If he can build up to it (and doesn't chicken out) - a full marathon could be on the schedule. Nearly all races will benefit individual area charities.

Whitaker, 58, said, "I started running again about 3-years ago after a 40-year break from the sport and have come to enjoy the experiences and competition involved. The racing community is really welcoming and engaging so that the more I run the more I want to run. With #SensGMRuns I can combine my love of the sport of running with the passion I have for supporting the community that is so good to the Harrisburg Senators all year long in so many ways."

The #SensGMRuns campaign will ask Sens fans to make a pledge for each race mile ran during 2019. All proceeds of the campaign will benefit Sens Care, the Senators non-profit organization that is fiscally sponsored by The Burg Foundation. Individuals who wish to participate in the campaign can pledge as little as $.01 per race mile for $1.50 total donation.

The Senators #SensGMRuns initial goal is to raise $5,000 for Sens Care; which is approximately $33 per race mile.
