Sterling is Sharp in Debut as Sens Shutout 'Ducks

The Harrisburg Senators (40-34) shutout the Akron RubberDucks (42-33) 6-0 Sunday afternoon at Canal Park. Sterling Sharp pitched seven scoreless and one-hit innings in his Double-A debut as the Senators took two out of three from the first-place RubberDucks.

After three scoreless innings, the Senators got on the board with a run in the fourth. With the bases loaded, Zach Collier grounded out to first and Jake Noll sprinted home to score ahead of first baseman Bobby Bradley's throw to the plate. 
The Senators gained separation in the fifth with three runs. Matt Reistetter led off the frame with a solo home run to right, his first of the season, to double the Senators advantage. Following a single by Alec Keller, Carter Kieboom knocked an RBI double to left to plate another run. One batter later, Austin Davidson doubled to right to score Kieboom and put the Senators ahead 4-0. 
The Senators tacked on two more runs late on an RBI triple by Hunter Jones in the eighth and a run-scoring double play by Kieboom in the ninth. 
Senators starting pitcher Sterling Sharp (1-0), who was just added to the roster prior to the game, tossed seven shutout innings in his Double-A debut, limiting Akron to one hit and a pair of walks while striking out five. The right-hander retired the final 13 batters he faced. 
The Senators pitching staff combined to retire 18 in a row before Roman Mendez allowed a two out single to Joe Sever in the eighth. Mendez retired the final batter, Bobby Bradley, to seal the 6-0 victory, the Senators' fourth shutout win of the season. 
'Duck starter Aaron Civale (4-1) allowed four runs on nine hits across four and two-thirds innings. 
Eight of the nine Senators batters finished with at least one hit, while Keller, Noll, Davidson and Reistetter all finished with multiple hits.
