Fightin Phils Snap Yard Goats 4-Game Win Streak
Reading, PA- Reading third baseman Austin Listi cranked a three-run homer in the first inning to lead the Fightin Phils to a 3-1 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats on Wednesday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pennsylvania. The loss snapped Hartford's season-high four-game win streak. Fightins starter Bailey Falter limited the Yard Goats to just one run and three hits while improving to 3-1 with the win. Hartford lefty Jack Wynkoop turned in a quality start but was tagged with the loss. He allowed only three hits and retired 14 of 15 batters from the first through fifth innings.
The Yard Goats will try and win their seventh series in eight tries with the rubber game tomorrow morning at 11:35AM. The Yard Goats have won all four rubber games this season and have claimed four of five three games series. Hartford returns to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Friday night to host the first place Harrisburg Senators.
The Fightins got on the board in very first inning against Hartford starter Jack Wynkoop. Mickey Moniak led off with a single and Luke Williams walked putting runners at first and second. Wynkoop Adam Hasely to line out before Austin Listi stepped to the plate. The Hartford lefty got ahead in the count at 0-2 but Listin ripped the next pitch into the left field deck seats to give Reading a 3-0 lead. It was Listi's first homer the season.
Reading starter Bailey Falter was stellar and permitted only one hit over the first six innings, while recording six strikeouts. The only hit allowed was a third inning single to Yard Goats pitcher Jack Wynkoop, who lined the first pitch of the at-bat into left field. Falter did get into trouble in the seventh inning when Hartford loaded the bases with two singles and a walk ending his afternoon. Garrett Cleavenger came in and walked Bret Boswell and Colton Welker scored, making it a 3-1 game. However the lefty stuck out Chris Rabago to end the rally.
The Yard Goats wrap up a three game series in Reading, Pennsylvania on Thursday morning with a 11:35 AM start against the Phillies affiliate. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and 100.9 FM and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com.
