Fisher Cats Bite Yard Goats in New Hampshire

Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Hartford Yard Goats by the score of 15-2 on Saturday night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Shortstop Austin Martin led a 22-hit attack with five hits and 4 RBI for the Fisher Cats who defeated Hartford for the second straight night. Sean Bouchard and Elehuris Montero each had a pair of hits for the Yard Goats. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin’ Donuts Park on Tuesday night and will host the Richmond Flying Squirrels (SF Giants).

The Fisher Cats scored five times in the second inning off Hartford starter Karl Kauffmann. Gabriel Moreno started the rally with a leadoff homer and Vinny Capra and Austin Martin each had RBI singles while Samad Taylor contributed with a two-run double.

New Hampshire added four more runs in the fourth inning with a two-run double by Taylor, RBI double by Martin and run-scoring single by Otto Lopez. The Fisher Cats led 9-0 after four innings. New Hampshire reliever Maximo Castillo worked six innings and allowed two runs on six hits to earn the win.

The Yard Goats scored their first run after a leadoff double by Manny Melendez in the seventh inning. Melendez later scored on a grounder by LJ Hatch. Elehuris Montero doubled in the eighth inning and came home on a sacrifice fly by Willie Abreu.

The Yard Goats will wrap up their 12-game road trip on Sunday in New Hampshire (1:35 PM) against the Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate). The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9 FM and newsradio1410.iheart.com. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin’ Donuts Park on June 22 to host the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 7:05PM.
