Fisher Cats Score Four in Eighth to Beat Yard Goats

Hartford, CT- The Fisher Cats smashed back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning to come from behind and defeat the Yard Goats 5-2 on Friday night at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford. The Yard Goats had a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning until Kevin Vicuna cranked a three-run homer and Demi Orimoloye followed with a solo homer as the Fisher Cats beat the Yard Goats for the third time in four games. Yard Goats starter Nate Harris was impressive and allowed just one run over five innings with three strikeouts.

The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game in the third inning as the Fisher Cats committed two errors in the frame. New Hampshire tied the game in the fourth inning on Kevin Vincuna’s run-scoring single, his first of 5 RBI in the game.

Hartford took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning on three singles off reliever Will McAffer. Coco Montes and Elehuris Montero each singled, and Willie Abreu drove home Montes with his two-out hit, giving the Yard Goats a 2-1 edge.

However, the Fisher Cats rallied for four runs off reliever Nick Kennedy in the eighth inning. Jordan Groshans led off with a single and Vinny Capra worked a one-out walk. Next Kevin Vincuna cracked a three-run homer in the left field seats, giving New Hampshire a 4-2 lead. Demi Orimoloye followed with a solo home run to make it 5-2.

The Yard Goats continue their six-game homestand against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Dunkin’ Donuts Park on Saturday night (6:05 PM).
