Witte, Ockimey, Renda, Mars turn in out of this world performance to jolt Goats

HARTFORD- Jantzen Witte, homered, doubled. singled, knocked in four runs, Josh Ockimey had three hits and Tony Renda and Danny Mars each had a homer, double and two RBI as the Portland Sea Dogs downed the Hartford Yard Goats Thursday night, 10-2. Every Portland batter had at least one hit in unleashing a 15-hit attack, before 5,288 at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Hartford became the first Eastern League club to surpass the quarter-million mark in attendance this season at 252,789.
Leading 3-2, Portland (33-51) broke open the contest against Hartford starter Evan Grills with a five-run fourth inning. Witte's three-run homer into the upper deck in right was the big blow. Mars and Renda each had run-scoring doubles as the Sea Dogs sent eight men to the plate.
Grills lasted four innings for the Yard Goats and yielded eight earned runs on 10 hits. He struck out six. Hartford (41-43) was held to four hits by Portland starter Dedgar Jimenez and three relievers. Jimenez pitched five innings and allowed two runs on three hits for his fourth win (4-6). He walked three and struck out seven. Mylz Jones and Roberto Ramos hit home runs for Hartford. Portland has won the first two games of the five-game series.
Game three of the set is Friday night at 7:05. RHP Ryan Castellani will pitch for the Yard Goats and LHP Kyle Hart for the Red Sox affiliate.  The game will be televised on Vantage Sportsnet, broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio1410.iheart.com and MiLB.com.
