Richmond, VA-   The Hartford Yard Goats ended their two-city seven-game road trip with a 10-inning 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia. Manny Melendez' RBI grounder scored Brian Seven in the 10th inning to break a 1-1 tie and give Hartford a 2-1 lead. Jordan Foley worked around a runner at third base in the bottom of the inning to record his first save as the Yard Goats split the four-game series. Hartford starter Matt Whitehouse and five relievers combined to fire ten scoreless frames. The Yard Goats bullpen allowed just one hit in the final six innings. The Yard Goats finished the road trip a 3-4 and return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park tomorrow night for a brief three-game series against the Bowie Baysox.

The Flying Squirrels took a 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning off Hartford starter Matt Whitehouse. Richmond loaded the bases with a singles from Bryce Jordan and Johneshwy Fargas and a walk to Jalen Miller. Zach Houchins followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring Johnson and giving the Giants affiliate a 1-0 lead. Whitehouse limited the damage and retired the next two batters. He allowed just one hit over the next three innings and recorded five strikeouts.
The Yard Goats stranded runners in the second and third innings against Richmond starter Caleb Baragar. After the lefty hurled a 1-2-3 fourth inning, Hartford manufactured a run in the fifth. Scott Burcham was hit by a pitch and moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Brian Serven. Arvicent Perez then ripped a pinch hit single into left field, scoring Burcham and tying the game at 1-1.
