Yard Goats Win Third Straight Game
Trenton, NJ- The Hartford Yard Goats won their third straight game, and defeated the Trenton Thunder 7-5 at Arm & Hammer Park in Trenton, New Jersey on Friday night. Tyler Nevin doubled and Vance Vizcaino singled him home to break a 5-5 tie in the eighth inning, as the Yard Goats put together their first win streak of the second half. Colton Welker and Scott Burcham each had two hits and drove in two runs as Hartford sent Trenton to its sixth straight loss, the most since the 2014 season. The Yard Goats scored five of the first six runs with two outs to improve to 4-1 against the Thunder this season. Jordan Foley pitched two innings in relief to record the win against his former club.   
The Yard Goats scored two runs in the second inning against Thunder starter Brian Keller to take an early lead. Alan Trejo began the frame with a double and Scott Burcham drove him home with a two out single to make it 1-0. Carlos Herrera followed with a single and Burcham scored making it 2-0 Hartford.
The Thunder rallied for three runs in the bottom of the second, and took their only lead of the game at 3-2. After Hartford starter Matt Whitehouse retired the first two batters, the next four would reach. Rashad Crawford singled, Ryan Lidge was hit by a pitch and Matt Lipka singled home Crawford with Trenton's first run. Then, Hoy Jun Park cracked a two-run triple to centerfield scoring Lidge and Lipka and giving the Thunder a 3-2 lead.
 
The Yard Goats tied the game in the fifth inning on Tyler Nevin's two-out RBI single scoring Manny Melendez to make it 3-3. Hartford took a 4-3 lead with another two-out rally in the fifth. Manny Melendez and Chris Rabago had back-to-back bunt hits, and Colton Welker smashed a single to centerfield scoring Melendez and lifting the Yard Goats to a 4-3 lead. Hartford made it 5-3 on Scott Burcham's two out single in the sixth inning.
Trenton came back and tied the game with a pair of runs off former Trenton pitcher Jordan Foley in the seventh inning. However, the Yard Goats took the lead for good in the eighth. Tyler Nevin lead off the inning with a double, move to second on a sac bunt and scored on Vance Vizcaino's RBI single. Hartford added a run in the ninth inning on Welker's sacrifice fly.
