BOISE, ID: The Boise Hawks, Single-A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and their mascot - Humphrey - have announced the details for their 3rd annual Reading Program, presented by St. Luke's Hospital. Humphrey, along with the Hawks' staff, are assisting children grades kindergarten through eighth throughout the Treasure Valley in hitting home runs for reading.

The Boise Hawks Reading Program is also supported by the following partners: University of Idaho - Boise, Idaho Pizza Company, Gem State Family Eye Care, Soda Stop, Del Taco, Idaho Transportation Department and Inland Northwest Toyota Dealers.

"We are proud to continue this reading program for three straight years. Our program creates the opportunity for the Boise Hawks to reach out to local elementary schools and provide a reading initiative program," said Hawks General Manager, Bob Flannery. "The reading program not only encourages kids to read outside the classroom, but also gives them a chance to see the Boise Hawks this summer."

Just over 15,000 students from 36 schools in the Boise, West Ada, Nampa, Caldwell, and Payette School Districts have signed up for the Reading Program. The Boise Hawks Reading Program began in late February and will be completed at the end of May. At the end of the program, teachers will provide the Hawks with a list of "Home Run Hitters" who have completed the program, and they will receive a complimentary ticket to Boise Hawks' home game in June and participate in a pre-game parade on the field.

The Hawks are the Treasure Valley's top stop for affordable, family entertainment. Deposits and seat location requests for the 2018 baseball season are currently being accepted.
