Crawdads Fall 5-1 in Series Opener

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads fell to the Augusta GreenJackets 5-1 in Monday's series opener.

The GreenJackets took an early lead, getting a run across in the second inning.
The 'Dads fought back in the third to tie the game at one. Jose Almonte doubled to start off the inning. Ornelas followed up with another double to bring Almonte around to score.
The GreenJackets quickly retook the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. They added on a run in the sixth and one in the eighth to make the score 5-1.
Crawdads starting pitcher Tim Brennan pitched 6 innings yielding 4 runs on 7 hits. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter. Brennan fell to 1-1 for the season and his ERA rose to 2.65.
Abdiel Mendoza pitched three innings of relief, allowing a run. Hever Bueno pitched a scoreless ninth, hitting 99 on the radar gun.
The series continues tomorrow evening with a 6:30pm first pitch. It is Dollar Dog Tuesday which means hot dogs are $1 and dogs can get into the park for a $1 thanks to Hebrew National, Cody Law Firm, WHKY 1290AM & 102.3FM. Craft beers will be $2 tomorrow courtesy of Lowes Foods.
