Hickory, NC- The Crawdads scored seven unanswered runs on Friday night, but fell to the Charleston RiverDogs 9-8 in front of a packed crowd of 3,569.

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads scored seven unanswered runs on Friday night, but fell to the Charleston RiverDogs 9-8 in front of a packed crowd of 3,569.

The RiverDogs got to Crawdads starter Ronny Henriquez early, scoring six runs off him in the second inning. Henriquez lasted only four outs before being pulled for Jesus Linarez.
The Crawdads cut into the lead with three runs in the fourth inning. Frainyer Chavez doubled to lead off the inning and was driven in on a ground rule double by Josh Jung. Tyreque Reed crushed a two-run homer, his twelfth homerun of the season, to make the score 6-3.
The 'Dads offense sparked again in the sixth inning, scoring two more runs. Ryan Anderson drew a walk before Miguel Aparicio doubled to put runners on second and third. Pedro Gonzalez hit a grounder that the pitcher threw away, allowing Anderson and Aparicio to score and make it a one-run game.
Josh Jung tied the game at six in the seventh inning with his first homerun as a Crawdad. Anderson doubled and advanced to third on a single by Aparicio. Matt Whatley hit a sacrifice fly to put the 'Dads ahead 7-6. The run was also the seventh unanswered run against Charleston.
The RiverDogs retook the lead in the eighth inning on a two-run homerun. They extended the lead to two runs on a balk with a runner on third in the ninth inning.
The Crawdads picked up a run in the ninth on a double by Anderson and a single by Gonzalez but they were unable to get any more across.
The series continues tomorrow evening at 7pm with Friends night presented by Kicks 103.3. Following the game, Crawdads players will be signing autographs on the third base side.
