Hickory, NC- For the second straight night, the Crawdads fell to the Asheville Tourists in the tenth inning. The ‘Dads came from behind twice to tie the game on Wednesday but ultimately lost 8-7.

Asheville took an early lead as ‘Dads starting pitcher Larson Kindreich walked four of the first five hitters of the game to bring in a run. He escaped the first without further damage but gave up four in the second, his last inning of work.

In the bottom of the second, the Crawdads started to cut into the Tourists’ lead. Cristian Inoa led off the frame with a single and was driven in by Angel Aponte’s double to left. Aponte scored on a wild pitch and throwing error by the catcher to make it a 5-2 game.

The Crawdads rallied to tie the game in the fifth. Randy Florentino walked, Keyber Rodriguez picked up a base hit, and Jayce Easley drew another walk to load the bases. Evan Carter cleared the bases with a double to left. Thomas Saggese hit a fly out to center that Carter tagged up on and took third. Trevor Hauver grounded out to third, scoring Carter on the play to tie the game.

The Tourists took a 7-6 lead in the ninth inning but the Crawdads fought back in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game and send it to extras. Easley and Carter walked to start off the ninth and Saggese laid down a bunt to advance the runners. Inoa’s sacrifice fly was enough for Easley to easily tag up and come in to score.

Asheville scored a run in the tenth to pull ahead 8-7. The ‘Dads were unable to match the run in the home half of the inning.

Tomorrow evening will be a Thirsty Thursday and Peoples Bank Thursday. It is also Casino Night at the ballpark.
