'Dads Drop Series Opener to Lakewood

Sam Huff Hits 17th Homer of the Season

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads dropped the series opener against the Lakewood BlueClaws 4-1 on Thursday night.

Sam Huff gave the 'Dads the lead in the second inning with a solo homerun to left field. Huff leads the team with seventeen homeruns this season.

 

The BlueClaws tied things up in the top of the fourth, scoring a run off 'Dads starting pitcher AJ Alexy. The BlueClaws added on a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Alexy's night was done after seven innings. He gave up three runs (only two were earned) and racked up ten strikeouts. He took the loss to fall to 5-8 on the season.

 

Alex Eubanks came in to pitch the game's final two innings. He gave up a run that increased the BlueClaws' lead to three. Eubanks had not given up a run in his previous 12.1 innings.

 

The 'Dads lone hit was Huff's solo shot in the second.

 

The loss puts the 'Dads three and a half games behind the first-place BlueClaws with eleven games to play. They square off against the BlueClaws three more times this weekend at the Frans. Tomorrow night is Star Wars Night and the night will be capped off with a firework show.
