'Dads Hit Two Homers in 6-4 Victory Over Asheville

Terry and Aparicio Go Deep as Crawdads Win Series

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads slugged their way to a 6-4 victory over the Asheville Tourists on Wednesday morning.

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads slugged their way to a 6-4 victory over the Asheville Tourists on Wednesday morning.

The Tourists got on the board first with a two-run homerun in the fourth inning off Crawdads starting pitching Hans Crouse.
Their lead didn't last long as the Crawdads responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Frainyer Chavez singled and Matt Whatley drew a walk to put two runners on for power-hitting Curtis Terry. Terry drove an 0-1 pitch over the left field wall to put the 'Dads ahead 3-2. The homerun is his fourth of the season.
Miguel Aparicio extended the 'Dads lead to three in the fifth inning with a two-run homer, his first of year. The Crawdads have hit the most homerun in the South Atlantic League so far this season with 16.
Crouse finished the day after 6.2 innings. He struck out eight and allowed three hits while walking none. He picked up the win to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The 'Dads added on an extra insurance run in the eighth. Chavez got things started with a leadoff double. Terry brought him in to score with a single. Terry's 19 RBIs lead the South Atlantic League by 5.
The Tourists rallied with a two-run homerun in the top of the ninth but the Crawdads held on for a 6-4 win.
The Crawdads start a three-game road trip in Columbia tomorrow night before an off day for Easter on Sunday. They will begin a seven game homestand on Monday evening against the Augusta GreenJackets.
