Crawdads Keep Playoff Hopes Alive with 11-1 Win

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads' bats exploded on Friday night as the 'Dads beat the Greensboro Grasshoppers 11-1.

The Crawdads offense struck first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Yonny Hernandez singled and got into scoring position with his forty third steal of the season. Ryan Dorow drew a walk to put runners on the corners for the 'Dads. Tyreque Reed hit a double to left field to score both runners.
The game entered a weather delay in the second inning that ended 'Dads starting pitcher Hans Crouse's evening. He finished with no runs or walks allowed, one hit, and two strikeouts.
The 'Dads extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth with another pair of runs. Yohel Pozo hit his tenth homerun of the season to give the Crawdads a 3-0 lead. Preston Scott followed up with a double to left. Scott stole third base and scored on a single by Justin Jacobs.
Dorow added onto the lead with a solo homerun in the fifth inning. The homerun was his twelfth of the year.
The 'Dads offense kept it going in the sixth, scoring three more runs. Preston Scott led off the inning with a homerun. Kole Enright and Justin Jacobs hit back-to-back singles to put two runners on. Hernandez walked to load the bases for Dorow, who hit a single to score Enright. Reed grounded into a force out that brought in Jacobs.
The Crawdads scored in their fourth consecutive inning in the seventh to make the score 11-0. Pozo started things off with the 'Dads third double of the night. Preston Scott singled and advanced Pozo to third. Enright walked to load the bases. Bubba Thompson singled to score Pozo. Hernandez drew a bases-loaded walk to increase the 'Dads lead to double digits. Enright dashed home on a wild pitch.
Greensboro broke up the shutout with a run in the eighth inning.
Tonight's win, and West Virginia's loss, keeps the 'Dads in the playoff hunt. The Crawdads trail West Virginia by two and a half games with three games to play.
The 'Dads and Grasshoppers will play again tomorrow night as the ZOOperstars! return to the Frans for a 7pm game. The first 500 fans will receive a team card set presented by WHKY Talk Radio. Following the game the entire team will be signing post game autographs.
