Crawdads Take Game Two 5-3

Hickory, NC- The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws 5-3 on Friday night to even the series.

The BlueClaws jumped out to an early lead on a homerun in the top of the first.

 

The 'Dads rallied to tie the game at one in the bottom half of the first. Bubba Thompson singled to lead off the game, and stole his twenty ninth base of the season, to get himself into scoring position. Yonny Hernandez hit his tenth double of the season to drive in Thompson.

 

The BlueClaws retook the lead in the second inning on another homerun.

 

In the bottom of the fourth, the Crawdads fought back to take a 3-2 lead. Thompson and Hernandez hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game at two. Hernandez advanced to third on his thirty ninth steal of the year. Ryan Dorow singled Hernandez in and gave the 'Dads the lead.

 

Tyreque Reed extended the lead to three runs with a two-run homer to left field. The homerun was his seventeenth of the season.

 

The BlueClaws added a run in the in seventh inning, but still trailed the 'Dads by two runs.

 

Demarcus Evans came into the game in the seventh inning to convert an eight out save. He allowed just one hit as the 'Dads closed out the game to pull to two and a half games behind the BlueClaws for the division lead.

 

The 'Dads and BlueClaws will play again tomorrow night at 7pm as the ZOOperstars! come to the Frans! Tomorrow night is also Lenoir-Rhyne night and the first 500 fans will receive a free LR themed Crawdads hat.
