'Dads to Play As Crawmoms Mother's Day Weekend

There's never a bad time to tell a joke. In a press conference this morning, the Hickory Crawdads announced that they were permanently rebranding to the Hickory Crawmoms.

The Crawdads will in fact play as the Crawmoms this season but only for Mother's Day weekend from Friday, May 11^th to Sunday, May 13^th. The team will wear pink Crawmoms jerseys for all three games along with specially designed hats featuring a revised Crawdads logo of two pink claws holding a heart-shaped baseball. The logos and caps were designed by New Era's Maria Taczak. The three specialty logos and wordmarks will be used on official team gear, merchandise, and promotional materials.
"We are a minor league baseball team so we wanted to have some fun with the way we announced our Crawmoms promotion," said Crawdads General Manager Mark Seaman. The reveal was built up on the team's social media outlets with cryptic videos directing fans to tune in to a big announcement on Friday. When Seaman made the announcement flanked by the team mascots for a press conference that was broadcast live on Facebook, he deadpanned that he was sick of dads always getting the attention and that the name change would be permanent. "While we will only be the Crawmoms for 3 games, we are very excited to be taking on a new identity and we think this will be our best Mother's Day weekend yet."
Friday's game will celebrate moms and conclude with Mother's Day themed fireworks. Saturday will feature a jersey giveaway to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Pepsi. The jersey will be a pink replica featuring an alternate Crawmoms logo on the sleeve. The weekend will wrap up on Mother's Day with a carnation giveaway, a Pink Heals Fire Truck on display, and first pitches from cancer survivors. Moms are also encouraged to come early on Sunday for a special edition of catch on the field.

The Crawdads are also taking orders for their Valentine's Day Package. The package includes the option of a Crawmoms or Crawdads tee shirt, a rose, and a Family 4-Pack (4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 fries, 4 soft drinks) with the choice of using the tickets on Mother's Day Weekend or any other Crawdads game during the season. Packages can also be personally delivered on Valentine's Day by Conrad. All orders must be placed prior to February 13^th and delivered within 25 miles of L.P. Frans Stadium.
