Hickory, NC- The Crawdads stayed hot on Saturday night as they took down the Greenville Drive 9-1. The ‘Dads have won six straight dating back to last Sunday and will go for the six-game sweep of the Drive tomorrow.

The Crawdads started the scoring off in the fourth inning with four runs. Cristian Inoa singled to center to start off the inning. Evan Carter followed up with a walk to put two runners on. Trevor Hauver singled to center to send in Inoa to score the first run of the game and send Carter to second. Chris Seise hit a triple off the center field wall to score both runners. Cody Freeman capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly to left.

Greenville managed to get a run across in the fifth to make it a 4-1 game.

In the bottom of the fifth the ‘Dads exploded for five more runs. Aaron Zavala and Inoa singled to lead off the inning. Carter drove a three-run homerun to right to make the score 7-1. Seise singled before Freeman homered to left.

Mason Englert got the start for the ‘Dads. He tossed six innings, giving up two hits, one walk while allowing one earned run and striking out ten batters. He picked up the win to improve to 1-1 on the season. Tyree Thompson pitched two hitless innings in relief and Joe Corbett closed out the game with a 1-2-3 inning.

The homestand wraps up tomorrow afternoon with a 3pm game. It will be the Crawdads’ Mother’s Day Celebration and the first 100 moms will get a carnation courtesy of Whitfield’s Flowers & More. It is also Church Bulletin Sunday presented by Catawba Shoe Store. Fans can bring their church bulletin to get a discounted $6 ticket, the ‘Dads will then donate $4 back to that bulletin’s respective church.
