USA National Softball Team to Play Exhibition in Lynchburg

The USA Women's National Softball Team is stopping in Lynchburg on June 13 to play a doubleheader at City Stadium beginning at 7:00pm. The exhibition games will kick off the USA Softball Team's 2014 Exhibtion Tour and will be played against a team of former and current players from Lynchburg and the surrounding area, coached by Liberty University softball coach Dot Richardson.

The gates will open at 5:00pm with opening ceremonies beginning at 6:35pm. Tickets are $25 for Reserved and $15 for General Admission and can be purchased at the Hillcats Ticket Office Monday-Friday 9am-5pm or online. There are no refunds nor a rain date for tickets purchased. After the games, players will be available for an autograph session and on Saturday, the USA Softball members will be hosting a clinic at Peaks View Park.

Richardson is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and current head coach of the Liberty Flames softball team. She will be selecting players from schools across the area. The USA Softball roster has 24 players, which will be cut down to 17 after the exhibition tour. Those final 17 players will play for the United States in the World Championships in August.
