In the first game of the double header Friday night, the Hillsboro Hops bested the Tri-City Dust Devils 5-2. The Hops were trailing 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, but broke out for four runs to give the club their third straight win. Drey Jameson (2-4) went the distance, recording a seven-inning complete game.

The game started as a pitching duel between Jameson and Dust Devils' starter Erick Julio who were scoreless over the first three frames. Tri-City got on the board first when Carlos Herrera led off the top of the fourth with a solo-blast to right-center field. Hillsboro tied in their half of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Cam Coursey to bring in Tristin English .

Jameson got into trouble in the top of the fifth after drilling Francisco Del Valle and allowing a single to Griffin Mazur. With runners at the corners and one out, Livan Soto lined a single to right field to put the Dust Devils back on top 2-1.

For the third game in a row, the Hops delivered the big inning. This time a four-run bottom of the fifth to put the club back in the driver's seat. Reece Hampton and Leodany Perez singled to start the inning to put runners on first and third with nobody out. That would be all for Julio's night who was replaced by Zach Linginfelter. Now with one out, Spencer Brickhouse tied it back up with a sac fly that brought in Hampton. Linginfelter began to struggle with his command, walking Blaze Alexander and English. With the bases loaded and two outs, Axel Andueza cleared the bases with a line drive three-run double to center field.

Jameson was brilliant over the final two frames, allowing just one base runner. The right hander pitched into the seventh inning for the first time this season and earned his first career complete game -- MiLB plays seven innings for double headers. Jameson allowed two earned runs, struck out six, and did not allow a walk in the contest.

Hillsboro (34-40) and Tri-City (29-46) are underway in the second game of the double header. Catch all the action on Rip City Radio 620AM and www.RipCityRadio.com
